This session explores the stories we tell ourselves. So often we find ourselves caught up in the stress of those stories and this life that we forget or neglect to take time to simply breathe, be and enjoy being alive. Such patterns of behavior lead to stress and stress leads to the experience of disease. Left unattended to, stress becomes chronic and manifests in serious and often life-threatening ways. Scientific studies indicate that individuals who integrate the mindfulness of Yoga, including breath work, meditation and postures, into their life build resiliency and experience a healthier, happier outlook. Specifically, the techniques of Yoga can be effective in reducing pain, improving balance, lowering blood pressure, decrease the symptoms of arthritis, and can cause an individual to experience increased moments of deep awareness, peace and calm. Participants will discover simple scientific and practical but intimate aspects of breathing and movement, the importance and rejuvenating nature of "being" and how resiliency by way of health and radiance stem from the most basic practices. Useful tools will be offered that can easily shared with others, such as clients, partners, children and colleagues. Join Dr. Sudha Allitt, PhD, a Professional Yoga Therapist, Teacher and Spiritual Advisor for this uplifting and inspired discussion about finding resiliency in day to day life through awareness, presence and perspective. Practical and easy techniques mixed with light humor shine a light on the path to greater health, happiness and holism. Goals: 1.
