When embarking on starting a business or growing a business, it is critical to ask yourself a number of questions that really require thought and attention - as much focus and analysis as identifying the business itself. 1)People: Who do I want to work with? Do I want to start this alone? Do I want a partner? Do I want to join an existing team? Do I want to create a team? Do I want a virtual team? 2)Product/service - What business do I want to be in? What industry? How will I find it? Is this an area of expertise for me? Is there an opportunity for me to provide a unique solution or a better mousetrap than might already exist in this chosen category? 3)Approach – What is my business Model and strategy? How will I grow this business? Why will people buy the product or service I am interested in so that I can demonstrate the soundness of my business model? How will I become profitable? And importantly, what is my end goal – an exit, a merger, brining my children into the business, lying on the beach in the Carribean? 4)And finally, money– What will I use to keep the lights on? Where do I go for financing? Who do I ask? And for how much? What rationale do I need to provide potential funding sources to motivate them to back the other elements of my story, the people, the business and the strategic business model. Asking these questions will be critical to determining the path you will follow to drive growth. The content of this program is based on 25 years of building, buying and growing brands and companies.
