Experiences accumulate, knowledge grows, and we gain perspective as a result. This increased perspective matures and enhances a person's view on themselves and their world. Luckily, we don't have to wait for time to passively improve our lives. We can gain perspective whenever we desire. THE PROGRAM I am an analyst by trade and by nature. Through my own life journey and analysis, I've found that we can alter the quality of our experiences, and lives, simply by shifting our perspective. In this program... 1. I'll show you how to gain as much perspective as desired and how to use it as tool to enhance your experience of life at any moment of need or of your choosing. 2. I'll provide a summary of the what perspective is and how we are to view it. 3. I will illustrate through examples what we are losing and enduring by not using perspective as a tool. 4. From there, I will communicate in simple and accessible language how to employ deliberate perspective shifting in our lives. 5. Questions will be answered and further demonstrations of how to use perspective will be provided if enough time remains. A PEEK INSIDE... THE PROBLEM Our minds have a number of default settings, default perspective is one of the most useful and powerful. When a thing enters our conscious gaze, our brains place it in what it believes to be the best context for us. The context chosen by our brains determines our default perspective. All things considered, our minds are pretty good at choosing context, but the mind is limited to the data in our heads. Adequate for general purposes, as most default settings are, but we want to be experts on our lives. Experts need more choices and more control. Like an expert, our perspective can and should be changed when we notice that the effects of the default settings are undesirable or poorly fitting. THE SOLUTION We can modify the default perspective of our brains whenever we choose by changing our relation to the object of conscious attention. Changing our relation to a thing is changing our perspective to a thing. WHY PERSPECTIVE? Being an analyst, I’ve looked for the one common thread that tied all practically useful systems, teachings, and philosophies together. I searched for the actual cause, the active ingredient in each. Every time what I found was ultimately a shift in perspective resulting from new knowledge and experiences. THE SECRET You don't need new knowledge or experiences to alter your perspective. We simply need to replace the default experiences and knowledge our default perspective is based on. For example: When we are startled by the garden hose, we replace the default information of snake and an experience of danger with the new knowledge that we were watering the plants earlier and the experience of a benign rubber hose. This minor shift in perspective drastically alters our experiences of an event. Our response or experience of a thing is typically proportional to our understanding of thing. Since we can't control much about our experiences in the world outside of our minds, we use what we can. The understanding of a thing, that's within our control. That is the source of our power and the vehicle with which we shift our perspective. PERSPECTIVE IS POWER Changing our understanding of a thing changes how we experience a thing. Mental perspective changes as knowledge and understanding change, much in the way our perspective changes with physical distance to an object. For Example: Standing very close to an object, we may have a difficult time making out whether it is a vehicle, a building or a wall. Moving back, and or up, puts distance between us and the thing. By altering our perspective, we can better see that we were standing very close to a large ship. Perspective is what we gain when we put distance between ourselves and a thing. With a better vantage point, the entire picture becomes clearer. From there, better decisions are made, and harm to and from the thing is less likely. Being our mind, and therefore our domain, we can shift our perspective as far as our experience and understanding will allow us. We can alter our experiences at any moment we find desirable by altering our perspective. A powerful tool available to us all at every waking moment. All that need be done is utilize it. THE RESULT By more skillfully utilizing our capacity for viewing ourselves and how we relate to the world and things in it, we can enhance the quality of our life at any moment of our choice. Improved decision making and better emotional management, all from simply shifting our mental perspective. By changing our mental view, we can see ourselves, our lives, and our world more accurately, and as a result we can make better use of, and better enjoy them. What an enhanced Perspective has given me: ● It has helped me gain mastery over my emotions and mood, transforming me from an angry cynic to a more peaceful and centered cynic. ● The more my perspective has increased, the better I am able to see the path that I should walk, and with whom I should walk it. ● I found a challenging and rewarding career. ● I have overcome a period as a somewhat troubled youth. ● I found the courage to share my vision and voice. ● I am better able to see what is needed and what is desired, and the clear distinction between the two. ● I have overcome a psychological fear of death. ● Despite being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, I've grown more positive and energetic.
