Carolyn Zahnow shares the story of the death of her teen son, Cameron, by suicide, in an effort to save others. As mother and mental health activist, who knows loss first hand, Carolyn shares her research on the issues surrounding teen suicide; depression, drug abuse (meth and others), bullying, and rehabilitation. She encourages parents and others to use this information to let teens know they are not alone and with time and treatment things can get better - all in hopes of saving them before they make the fatal decision Cameron did. Put simply, she gives parents, as well as others, the tools and information to start that difficult, and potentially lifesaving conversation, with a teen. Since the release of her book, "Save the Teens: Preventing suicide, depression and addiction," and program in 2010, Carolyn has heard countless stories of teen loss and has incorporated many of these into her talk. Save the Teens program is help adapted for parents, educators, mental health professionals, church personnel, and other caring adults as well as teens themselves. Carolyn shares her research and story, whenever and wherever she can, in hopes of intervening with teens before they make the fatal decision Cameron did.
