About the Author: Apryl Zarate Schlueter is proof that you really can “do it all.” After graduating from Northwestern University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, she worked as an IT Consultant. She then moved to teaching high school math until landing a job in higher education. She spent 3 years on the Executive Committee of the Northwestern University Staff Advisory Council, where she led the charge of improving staff life at NU, collaborating with senior leadership at the University. She facilitated annual talks for the University President to address the Northwestern University community, and was also selected to be on the search committee for the Executive Vice President of the University. Schlueter was also a cheerleader her entire life. After cheerleading through elementary and high school, she joined the Northwestern Cheerleading squad and was a varsity member all four years, including being captain her senior year.
