According to our findings, disparities in health care exist for Hispanic children with special health care needs, with particular barriers identified as being age and insurance type. Being Hispanic and having low socioeconomic status are challenges to obtaining special services for children with special health care needs. Evidence-based healthcare service delivery programs are needed to identify those predisposing and enabling factors that affect healthcare utilization for Hispanic children with special healthcare needs (CSHCN). In addition, those quality of life outcomes that can be improved through the early identification and treatment of Hispanic CSHCN may lead to decreased frequency of specialized therapeutic service utilization. This topic focuses on the differential diagnosis and treatment service delivery model for pediatric populations with special healthcare needs.
