We married after graduating college and this past year marks our 44 wedding anniversary. Bess Myerson once wrote that to fall in love is awfully simple, but to fall out of love is simply awful. Since Edison's accident I have often thought - if I wasn't in love with him - the whole situation would be easier. The five stages of grief are central to my understanding our situation of dealing with Edison's Traumatic Brain Injury, TBI. I will share our journey of moving through the phases: Denial and Isolation, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance. I am confronting our new life and it has been hard. Creating a new way to live is exciting - and is where we are now. Edison still does not talk or walk independently. I have adjusted to his care routine and our new life. We sold our home of 25 years and down-sized to casita living. Who knew I could be so happy? This program present tips for moving forward. I aim to inspire and challenge the participants.
