BULLIED TO BRAVE
OVERCOMING BULLYING

Program Length: 45-60 minute Keynote We have heard that hurt people, hurt people. Bullying and becoming a victim of bullying comes from those hurts. The bullying Keith experienced was most often in the form of cruel looks from others and words like "burnt toast baby," "scarface," and "Freddy Krueger." The words created anger, guilt and shame for Keith at a young age, which resulted in his acting out, fighting, abusing alcohol and feeling like dying for much of his life. Keith began abusing alcohol at the age of 13 and his reliance on alcohol to mask his pain continued until he faced and admitted it at the age of 35. Keith understands first-hand the effects bullying can have. He is a recovering alcoholic who recognizes that his strength and recovery is a process he chooses daily. After years of self-destruction, hurting others, and numerous run-ins with the law, Keith has been able to apply each of the 12 steps of recovery into his daily life and he has developed a C.O.D.E. by which to live his life. Keith challenges audidence to think aobut their actions not only in schools but in the workplace and daily life. Keith still experiences the looks and stares today. However, he is resilient. Resiliency is an ability we all have, however, we sometimes must dig deep within ourselves to find it. Everyone can go from being a victim of bullying to a victor overcoming bullying. By the end of the presentation, audiences will be able to: 1. Understand how to not become desensitized to the word "bullying." 2. Discover what it takes to become resilient when facing bullying 3. Learn about the freedom from forgiveness 4. Recognize the difference between a victim and a victor
