Most of us can recognize the difference between mentally healthy and unhealthy behavior in others, and many can recognize the difference in themselves. Those with narcissistic personality disorder cannot. They are parasitic predators who victimize and feed on the emotions of kind, vulnerable people. Once taken as emotional hostages the people's lives are systematically destroyed through covert mind control, manipulation, and psychological warfare. Without the proper help, people suffer for a lifetime. The damage is catastrophic. Some can’t bear the suffering and end their lives. Others try to cope with it through substance abuse. Most suffer from some form of mental illness and find it difficult to live normal lives. One would think that narcissistic personality disorder is rare, but it is not. These dangerous people have infiltrated every area of society at epidemic levels. Unless we know what to look for they are virtually unrecognizable.
