Erik Sean Larson, MA, LMSW is an existential psychotherapist, conscious leadership expert and national speaker who has a 20 year history of guiding folks in unleashing more creativity, productivity and JOY in their lives. Whether working with people suffering from addiction or loss or high powered leaders attempting to grow themselves and their companies, Erik applies the same basic truths and action steps of human performance: the mindful wisdom of the human Hero Quest. The ancients knew that all Hero Quest stories were more about consciousness growth than they were about slaying monsters, and modern neuroscience and psychological research support this ancient wisdom -- that, when we grow our mindfulness, we grow our work and life performance and our ability to create JOY for ourselves and others.
Erik has dedicated his life to understanding and teaching the basic truths of how humans create JOY and meaning in their lives. In his private practice, he has worked with teens and adults who wanted to heal their current suffering in order to live more purposeful and contented lives. As a management consultant, he has helped leaders from small, medium and large organizations to unbind their true leadership power to create ambitious and purpose driven futures, thus allowing them to better manage in our increasingly Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) world. Erik has also served for 8 years as a Vistage Michigan chairperson, a part of the largest peer-to-peer leadership development model in the world. This has allowed him to study deeply what creates stuckness in leaders and their organizations and what opens up purposeful flow for those same leaders and their organizations.
Erik lives in Northern Michigan on a 40-acre farm, where he shares Hero Quest adventures with his wife, their two children, a few chickens and a smart dog. This year, he and his family began a lavender farm on their land, simply because they all thought the world could use a little more quiet beauty and to take on the joyful challenge of learning how to do it well.
