Mike Smith is a Professional Speaker, Coach, Consultant, and Faculty member for Mental Toughness University who has worked with Fortune 500 companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Toyota, and most recently Caterpillar, speaking on the topics of Mental Toughness, Psychological Performance and Approval Addiction.
Mike enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1983 and served a total of 26 years. During the course of his career, Mike held numerous leadership positions, led several base Honor Guard teams providing military honors to fallen comrades, and later became a First Sergeant. At the height of his career, Mike was selected to serve as the First Sergeant for the USAF Thunderbirds, where he traveled around the world representing the men and women of the Armed Services.
After retiring from active duty, Mike transitioned into the civilian sector where he became a corporate leader in a Berkshire Hathaway Energy company. In that role he provided leadership, mentorship and guidance to company employees at all levels.
Mike received his Bachelors degree in Workforce Education from UNLV, a Masters in Human Relations from The University of Oklahoma, and a PhD in Industrial & Organizational Psychology, with a specialization in Leadership Development and Coaching, from Walden University.
It is this unique combination of hands-on & real-world experience, in both military and corporate organizational environments, and formal education that allow Mike to speak with competency, relevancy, purpose and passion. The ultimate goal and end result of his style of speaking, coaching, and consulting is to provide individuals and teams with tools and techniques to crush psychological barriers that are inhibiting true success and holding people back from truly being their best self.
