I believe in a collaborative team approach to solving problems. After introducing and implementing the concept of the “peer boards” at CarMax, I now make sure my audience understands the hidden gem that has been overlooked. My speaking engagements revolve around the power of the employee base. Take care of your people, and they will take care of everything else. Using my three decades of experience and stories of failure and success, I can relate to any audience in a way that few others are able. I’ve made plenty mistakes and have learned from them. I’ve also learned from some of the best managers on the planet and how their vital behaviors lead to a more productive and engaged employee base. Some managers just do a better job. I’ve studied them and captured how and what they do create what I call “High Impact Managers.”
Nobody Gets Paid Until We Make a Sale
My favorite topic to speak on is sales management. So many companies get this wrong. You cannot manage a sales team the same way you do everyone else in the organization. My Essential Sales Manager Presentations are game changers for the audience members. I create a clear understanding of the proper care and feeding of a salesperson with the appropriate approaches to maximize their results. Often the most significant detriment to sales is the person who is managing them. These sales managers are not doing it on purpose they merely do not know any other way. I give them the way, and it works.
