Tahiera Monique Brown - Motivational Speaker

SpeakerMatch

I work with people who want to relearn how to live a quality life after facing tragic circumstances.

I use my journey as a way to communicate how to increase joy in life, and live with hope rather than hopelessness. Although much of my speaking began in the area of domestic violence awareness and advocacy, it has evolved into sharing with men, women, and children, who are facing major issues in their lives. I also encourage these audiences to share with others, just as I have shared with them. My platform helps to create greater awareness of these stories, and helps to influence change through the empowerment of many people.

Biography

Tahiera Monique Brown is the President and CEO of Darkness To Light Films, a Birmingham based Film and Television Production Company. Ms. Brown is also author, and a professional speaker. Her book, Annihilator of Innocence, chronicles a horrific ordeal where Brown, along with her children, was held hostage for two years by a man who, unbeknownst to her, had been stalking her for some time. The choice she made to save her children's lives put her in a coma. When she recovered, she had amnesia, which she still suffers to this day.

Ms. Brown performs speaking presentations and workshops at K-12 Schools, Colleges and Universities, Men and Women's prisons and correctional facilities, law enforcement conferences, domestic violence awareness events, nonprofit organization meeting and events, civic organizations, and churches. She has been featured in many radio, newspaper , and magazine interviews and shows.

During the beginning of her career, Tahiera was a television show and radio show host. She served as a Casting Director in Atlanta, Georgia for over 15 years. She was recognized by Filmmakers of Color in Atlanta, Georgia as the top Casting Director among her peers.

For much of the time that Brown has lived in Birmingham, she has been a true servant in the community. She is an advocate for domestic violence awareness and for abused children. Ms. Brown currently serves as the facilitator of the Birmingham Chapter of Survivors Overcoming Abusive Relationships (S.O.A.R.). She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Prescott House, a child advocacy organization that provides services to child victims of physical and sexual abuse, severely neglected children and children who have witnessed a violent crime. She is an active member of the Jefferson County Coordinated Community Response (CCR) against Domestic Violence organization, and an avid supporter of the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ACADV) and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV).

Tahiera is the former Treasurer for The Kiwanis Club of the Magic City. She published her book Annihilator of Innocence under the Tavine'ra Publishing imprint. She is signed the late author Mansel Philip McCleave to her company, and published his book, which is entitled, Hunger Pains in our Heads. The next release from her publishing company is entitled, Living True and Truly Living.

Brown's Film Production company, Darkness To Light Films, has two projects planned for the short term--the production of a television show called Living True and Truly Living. This show, where Brown is serving as Executive Producer, was inspired by the upcoming book of the same name. The company is also in development on the movie version Tahiera's book Annihilator of Innocence.

Brown and her husband reside in a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama.
