Stepheca M. Sawyer is the Retention Program Coordinator for one of the top business schools in Maryland. She manages the advisement/enrollment processes for the school’s 1100+ undergraduate students as well as develops policies and programs in academic and professional development to cultivate student success. In addition to this administrative role, she is an adjunct faculty member in the school's Department of Business Administration where she teaches courses in Business Leadership, Professional Development and Special Topics in Business Administration with a concentration in Crisis Management and Contingency Planning.
Prior to working in education, Stepheca was a business editor for the international news service, Business Wire; and editor of the Nashville Record, a business and legal newspaper in Nashville, TN. Currently Stepheca serves as a Small Business Insider for BriefCase Radio on WEAA 88.9 FM in Baltimore. This Renaissance Woman is also founder and CEO of Sawyer Syndicate, LLC which has three divisions: Syndicated Scholars (collegiate), EnterChangent (training and development) and Prophetic Rhythms (performing arts). For her professional and civic achievements, Stepheca was recenty inducted into her undergraduate alma mater’s second cohort of Top 45 Under 45 in May 2017.
Stepheca earned a B.A. in Communications (Broadcasting) and a minor in French from Saint Augustine’s College in Raleigh, NC; an M.B.A. from Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN, an M.A.L.A. from St. John’s College in Annapolis, MD and was recently admitted to the PhD program in Business at Virgnia Tech's Pamplin College of Buisness. She studied French language and culture at the Université de Montpellier in Montpellier, France through the International Partnership for Service Learning and Leadership; and researched media and corporate relations in London, England through the Council for International and Educational Exchange. Stepheca serves on several boards and is an active member of the National Speakers Association, the National Association of Black Journalist and the National Black MBA Association.
