Author, speaker and personal safety expert Pete Canavan has been keeping people safe from both online and offline threats to their personal safety for over 20 years. He has spoken on stage before national audiences in his home state of Pennsylvania as well as New York and Las Vegas on dozens of topics including goal setting, business growth strategies, maximizing technology, security and personal safety.
Pete is an IT consultant who has been keeping his clients' systems, networks and accounts safe since 1995 through his information technology business, PJC Services. His company also provides web development and promotion services to his clients, and keeps their web sites, email and online accounts secure.
He has studied the martial arts for over 20 years and trained thousands of men, women and children of all ages. Pete continues to train and instruct several classes a week, and currently holds a 4th degree black belt (master rank) in two Korean styles, TaeKwonDo and Hapkido. He is proficient with over a dozen martial arts weapons as well as those used in law enforcement including the monadnock and PR-24 control baton. Pete is an Act 235 Lethal Weapons Certified Agent in Pennsylvania, and he is also certified in First Aid, CPR, AED and naloxone administration.
He has worked as a university public safety professional and is familiar with many of the challenges facing today's college students as the result of first-hand experience. His latest book, released Sept 2017 is titled "The Ultimate Guide to College Safety: How to Protect Yourself From Online & Offline Threats to Your Personal Safety at College & Around Campus."
