Michael's story is about having a dream and turning it into reality, about vision and purpose and setting great goals, and the determination and perseverance and planning it takes to achieve them. Beginning with a burning vision at the onset of his climbing career to summit the world's highest mountain, it took several expeditions over 25 years to finally achieve his goal - the summit of Mt Everest!

Only days after returning from an expedition, Michael's chest was crushed in a head-on car collision. His injuries were so severe, he wasn't expected to live.
He did live, but the doctors told him he'd never climb again. He more than climbed again.
In fact, his near-death experience only left him with an even more burning desire to fulfill his purpose. Through decades of healing, preparation, and dedication he not only reached the summit of Mt Everest, but went on to achieve mountaineering's "Grand Slam" - the Seven Summits.

Having built and operated his own businesses, Michael understands business not only from his studies earning a BA in Sociology and Economics at UBC, but from two decades of gritty experience in the sales and marketing trenches of building outdoor brands such as Sierra Designs, The North Face, and currently Cloudveil.
