With over 25 years in hospital customer service at the University of Michigan Health System, Karen Shaper has trained employees in hospital billing, providing stellar customer service to patients, and how to work as a team. Additionally, Karen has developed tutorials and classes for employees on listening and organizational change.
As a part time faculty member at Washtenaw Community College for the past eight years, Karen has translated her programs and experience in a hospital setting to instruct students on Interpersonal Communications where they learn skills related to: Listening, Emotions, Nonverbal Communication, Conflict, and Language. Students find Karen’s classes full of energy with real life examples they can resonate with.
Lastly, Karen teaches Public Speaking both at Washtenaw Community College and United Association (UA) of Plumbers and Pipefitters where students and professionals learn to control anxiety and build self-esteem.
