With over 18 years of experience in varied treatment settings, Dr. Karla Ivankovich is Board Certified as both a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, and as a Telemental Health provider. In addition to being a clinical counselor, she is an executive, educator, media personality, divorce mediator, and public speaker. Most incredibly though is her ability to ignite passion and motivation in audiences of all types.
Dr. Karla's research and publications have focused on empowerment, body image, health psychology, marginalized populations, mental health, millennials, obesity, privilege, relationship issues, self-esteem and stigma. Her passion and expertise have made her a highly sought-after voice, locally and on a national stage. Dr. Karla has published research and presented findings at national conferences and is often called upon to provide expert opinion to national media sources and organizations such as, The Atlantic, Aljazeera Television, Britt&Co, Chicago Tribune, Dr. Oz – the Good Life, Elle Magazine, Fitbit, Glamour, Health Magazine, Health Technology Magazine, Huffington Post, Men’s Health Magazine, New Parent, Psychology Today, The Science of Relationships, Self Magazine, Springfield’s Own Magazine, Teen Vogue, Women’s Day, and Yahoo. In addition, her work in the field of domestic abuse is being used in training programs around the country including several law firms in Chicago and in Arizona and New York City. Lastly, her work in the field of mental health and empowerment is being used by several physical rehabilitation programs, medical offices, and most humbly, several churches.
With a PhD in Psychology, she possesses undergraduate degrees in Business Administration and Psychology as well as graduate degrees in Human Development Counseling (Marriage and Family Therapy), INO-Disability Studies, and completed additional graduate coursework in Educational Leadership. Dr. Ivankovich attended Lincoln Land Community College, the University of Illinois at Springfield, and North Central University. She serves as an adjunct lecturer in the undergraduate Psychology program at the University of Illinois at Springfield, and the graduate Counseling Psychology program at North Park University.
Ranked as a Top Executive by the National Council of American Executives, Dr. Karla serves as President and Co-Founder of OnePatient Global Health Initiative. In this position, Karla’s primary role is to provide executive oversight through education, outreach programming, mental health assessment, overall strategic planning, financial and staff management, organizational development, program operations and clinical compliance. Karla’s extensive professional history as an industry executive has allowed her to develop and manage university and state-wide programs of assistance.
Like most people today, Dr. Ivankovich wears multiple hats. In addition to her work at One Patient Global Health Initiative, she serves as a media personality hosting Life and Love, a weekly talk show live from the Xfinity studios of iHeart radio at WVON in Chicago, IL. Together with her husband, Dr. Daniel Ivankovich, the dynamic duo guides you through the reality of relationships with hilarity, humor and hope…all in the name of love.
