Biography

Julie Clark Lingen is a national award-winning author, speaker, entrepreneur, regret prevention activist and lover of life. You don’t have to be around her long to feel her warmth, love, laughter, kindness, and joy. Julie’s passion and urgency for life comes from learning she is living 50% at-risk for one of the world’s cruelest diseases—Huntington’s Disease—a rare, incurable degenerative brain disease that threatens to cut her life short. Since then, she has become more determined than ever to live each day to the fullest—without regret--and inspire others to do so as well with a reminder that NONE of us knows what the future holds. LIFE IS SHORT for all of us so we need to GET TO LIVING or life will pass us by! Julie is using her powerful personal story to challenge people to see life from a different perspective: The days are numbered for all of us. We shouldn't be afraid of dying; we should be afraid of regretting the way we lived. None of us can prevent dying, but ALL of us can prevent regret. That's where our power lies. In how we live TODAY. By openly sharing her personal story, she’s on a mission to help inspire others to live more fully, challenging them to live the rest of their lives without regrets. Julie calls her mission 'Regret PreventionTM.' It's a mission that has become even more dear to her since being beside her dad's bedside during his dying days, and seeing that in the end, it's truly our regrets that cause us the most pain. Research shows that most people die with regrets on their deathbed, yet most of those regrets could be prevented by changing how we live now. Her impactful experience with her dad is what has prompted her to launch a new Regret Prevention MovementTM in his honor to empower others to make meaningful changes to their lives NOW, before it's too late, to prevent regret on their deathbed. Her journey with her dad has also been the inspiration for her new blog and next book where she'll be sharing the wisdom and lessons she learned from one of the most difficult times in her life and what it has taught her about living, dying and preventing regrets in the end. Multiple audiences have said Julie has a life-changing message we all need to hear, with a life-altering question we all need to ask ourselves: Are we living or letting life pass us by? What regrets will YOU have on your deathbed?

Empowering others to live fully is at the core of many of Julie's pursuits. She created The Inspirational Coffee Club to share her one-of-a-kind Ground Rules for LifeTM and provide a fun, coffee-themed approach to personal growth and fulfillment that inspires us to Live BrewtiFULLY. She is the author of a national award-winning book: Inspirational Coffee Breaks for Women: 12 Ground Rules for Pouring Your Heart into Life. It captured the hearts of readers across the country, becoming an Amazon.com bestseller and being named a finalist in the prestigious National Best Books Awards from USA Book News which honors the most outstanding books in the self-improvement genre. It also received the National Indie Excellence Award recognizing the "best of the best" in book publishing. It’s a dose of inspiration for the heart and soul.

She is also passionate about her new Beauty FULL-LIVING initiative, redefining beauty as we know it with an entirely new definition: True beauty isn’t about how a woman looks; it’s about how a woman lives and loves. Sharing her unique and memorable Beauty Full-Living TipsTM, she hopes to empower more women and girls to Live BeautiFULLY—with kindness, love, courage, confidence, strength, resilience, determination, passion and happiness to create a life that shines from inside out. A beautiful appearance fades, but a beautiful life never does!

Julie has been honored with the Young Women of Excellence Award from the Sales & Marketing Executives, Inc. of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, given to celebrate women who influence the lives of other women with their integrity and accomplishments. She was also named the recipient of the Horizon Award from Augustana University, recognizing alumni who have made outstanding achievements in career and service to their community.

Julie is a coffee-drinking, book-reading, roller-blading, Bed & Breakfast-loving, Hallmark-movie watching, dancing around the house kind of gal with a serious zest for life. She tries to spend as much time as she can heart-to-heart with others, making memories with those she loves most, including mother-daughter getaways, adventures with friends, and time with her husband, all which provide her many laugh-out-loud moments. She wears her heart on her sleeve, loves helping others, genuinely enjoys seeing others happy, and is constantly inspired by the stories and wisdom of others. She lives in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with her amazing husband, Brad, who brings her first cup of coffee to her every morning and who has shown her that there’s nothing more powerful, more precious or more healing in this world than genuine unconditional love. Julie’s life goals are to leave the world a little better place for others by helping more people die without regrets and to see a cure for Huntington’s Disease.
