Colonel John Boggs is an officer, a gentleman, and a businessman. A retired Marine Officer, Col Boggs is a former Vice President of a major Washington, D.C. non-profit, and partner in both a government contracting company, and an international business development company. He has a distinguished record of providing executive level leadership and strategy for large, complex organizations and operations.
Colonel Boggs’ areas of expertise include leadership, national security strategy, strategy development, operational planning, training and education. He has a long list of prominent operational commands, senior staff, and academic positions to his credit. A Marine Infantry Officer, he is one of the rare few that have commanded at every level of his Marine Corps career. He has served in advisory positions on high-level national government staffs. Col Boggs has advised General Officers, Political Appointees, Diplomats and business leaders, as well as senior officials at the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Recognized for his ability in international relations, he was selected to serve as a Military Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York City, the world’s foremost authority on foreign policy. As Chief of Staff of the National Defense University, he managed the planning and implementation of daily operations at the world’s largest defense university system. As a faculty member, Col Boggs spent time as Dean of Faculty and Academic Programs, Commandant of the Marine Corps’ Chair and as teaching faculty; he taught strategy and logistics at the master’s degree level, and developed and taught the United States Regional Security Studies at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
Col Boggs’ leadership expertise has been recognized on a local, national and global level. As evidenced by his providing leadership development support for a wide range of organization’s from the Integrated Medical Services of Phoenix, the New York City Police Department, and the International Development Institute.
A gifted speaker, he has spoken at a number of forums on the subjects of Leadership, Heroes in Society and the Work place, Innovation and Diversity. He is one of the few repeat speakers at New York City’s Intrepid Museum “Power of One” series. Interestingly, Col. Boggs is known for leaving his audience with a personal gift at the conclusion of his speeches. He is a member of the National Speakers Association--Arizona Chapter.
He has served on the volunteer board of directors for the Navy Federal Credit Union, the world’s largest credit union, and the board of directors for the District Alliance for Safe Housing, a non-profit organization that provides shelter for women and their children who are victims of abuse. John has also served as the National President of the National Naval Officers Association, a global non-profit that supports the Nation’s Sea Services, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, efforts in the recruitment, retention and career development of minority officers. He continues to serve on non-profit boards, most notably is the Arizona Department of Education Advisory Board, the Arizona Character Education Foundation and is a life member of the Marine Corps Association, the National Naval Officers Association and the Organization of Black Maritime Graduates and the National Association of Corprate Directors.
