Dr. Kim Bynum is a five foot tall bundle of positive energy and enthusiasm who was given the appropriate call sign of "TASMANIAN DEVIL" during one of her numerous military assignments. Her 21 years of military service as both an enlisted member and officer in the U.S. Navy includes at-sea tours on USS KEARSARGE (LHD 3), USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66) and USS GETTYSBURG (CG 64). As one of few women leaders in a Navy world comprised of mostly men, she has a plethora of entertaining and insightful leadership experiences that audiences from both military and non-military backgrounds can relate to and learn from.
After transitioning (retiring) from the Navy, Kim served as Chief of Staff, Programs for Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit committed to serving our nation's veterans and their families. She also served as Director of Operations, District 4 Medical Examiner’s Office for the City of Jacksonville, and Deputy Director, Military Affairs and Disabled Services for the City of Jacksonville. This time working in both non-profit and government were also fertile ground for life experiences in leadership, organizational behavior and culture change which have shaped her research and expertise in these areas.
Kim has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Florida A&M University, and an MBA and doctorate (DBA in Economics) from Jacksonville University.
