I grew up in Zimbabwe and graduated high school in Windhoek, Namibia. Served for 18 years in Illinois Air National Guard as Emergency Manager, specializing in Weapons of Mass Destruction and natural disaster preparedness and response. Employed for 7 years with the Winnebago County Health Department followed by employment with Sears Holdings Corporation for a year after which I started my own Emergency Management consulting company, Resilience International Consultants, Corp.
I hold certifications as a Hazardous Material Technician, Radiation Safety Awareness Instructor, FEMA certified National Incident Management System courses, and have experience in providing instruction to a diverse audientce of military and civilian audiences.
A wide level of experience in Emergency Management through civilian and military careers led to the development of a series of speaking topics. With service in the military and in county public health agencies, these speaches carefully weave together a tapestry of hard learned lessons from reality with theory developed by experts in various field. All of this is intersperesed with humor and audience interaction.
Topics for speeches have included: 'Leadership', 'Hazard and Vulnerability Assessments', Continuity of Operations Planning', and a 3 hour presentation titled: 'Titanic: How a famous Tragedy Provides Lessons Today!'
Being in the military and in the disaster response/management career fields has given me a balanced and practical approach to life. With the emotional and political turmoil in the world today, it is important to remain grounded and offer practical advice and repsect for all views.
