Award-winning filmmaker, Sylvia Binsfeld studied fine art at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, but then ended up starting a career as an actress. Frustrated with the scripts she was handed, Sylvia very quickly moved to the other side of the camera where she has more control over the messages she is putting out in the world.
After reading an article by Paul Kingsnorth titled, "The Witness" started the Conscious Media Movement. After decades of fighting to save the environment, Paul stopped, believing no one heard the message in time, and that it’s too late to save us…we will be the first species to cause our own extinction. The top scientists in the world back his observations and have been speaking out for years.
Understanding the urgency, Sylvia reflected on what would have enough power to create a change in mass consciousness, in enough time, to help uplift society and generate changes to help heal the planet. The answer came...the media...it has tremendous power with a global reach. But, at this time much of this power has been used in ways harmful to society.
Sylvia encourages artists, media makers, filmmakers, writers of ALL genders, to take leadership positions, helping with the healing of the planet by raising mass conscious through the media and the arts. She shows the audience how to become powerful activators of the change we want to see in the world.
