Biography

Andre Benito Mountain has "remixed" what it means to lead a high-performance learning organization.  He is an educator, writer and highly sought after speaker whose work has been featured in national and international education publications.  He is the author of The Mountain Principles:  Lessons on Leading and Learning and The Brilliance Beneath:  The Power of Perspective in Urban Schools.  He is an educational leader firmly focused on fostering greater integration of the arts into all areas of public education.  He enters the field of public education from a perspective that is firmly rooted in social justice, cultural responsiveness, and an unapologetically Hip-Hop aesthetic and framework. Mr. Mountain is available to speak to audiences on a range of topics including arts integration, culturally responsive teaching, social justice, and raising student achievement.

His work with jazz and social studies instruction was featured in the documentary Taking Notes:  Jazz and the American Story.   He is the co-author of Woodstock to Hip-Hop: Convergent Lifelines and the Teaching Journey and the co-editor of Democratic Responses in an Era of Standardization. He is the principal of Marbut Traditional Theme School in metro-Atlanta.
