Russell grew a small family insurance agency to a large agency by selling more and acquiring other insurance agencies.
A wake up called led him to ask, "Is this all there is?" In a dream the minister, presiding at Shippee's funeral said, "Russell was a great insurance agent." Realizing this wasn't the legacy he wanted to leave - and that if he didn't leave the business, it would kill him - Russell began a journey to transform his life and create the obituary the way he wanted to be remembered.
Today Shippee is a speaker, writer, mentor, business advisor, coach, and volunteer. Giving back and helping others, he's been on the board of RI Hospital and South County Hospital as well as The Providence Ronald McDonald House and other organizations. He has been chairman of several very successful capital campaigns.
Russell is a graduate of Bryant University, attained his CPCU and CIC designations in insurance, and attended the Harvard Owner/President Management Program. He and his wife Cathy live in Wickford RI.
