Leadership from the inside out!
Leadership with an emotional connection!

The one thing that sets a true leader apart from the rest is their emotional connection with the people they lead. High customer and employee satisfaction scores are not enough to ensure the future. High scores certainly do help but the real differentiator of leaders in 2012 will be their ability to connect emotionally with the people they work and partner with. When people have a strong emotional connection with their leader they will become more productive, more loyal, and more willing to sacrifice to get the job done. Leadership 2012 is the art of creating and maintaining an emotional connection. Emotional connection (EC) is created through the Circle of “C’s” Circle of 12 C’s 1. Care – The people that work for you or with you are more than a number, they are a person, know them, know what they do best, who they are as a person, what their strengths are, validate them as a person, hear them. 2. Coach – People want to grow grow in knowledge, experience, skills, confidence. 3. Champion – People need to have the resources, physical, emotional, etc…for them to be successful. Help them confront conflict, Let them know you have their back 4. Contribution – Help them know they are contributing and making a difference. They need to know what success looks like. It is important to review contribution regularly. The people tha that work for you / with you need you to connect the dots between what they do and the overall goals or objectives. 5. Confident – people want to work for someone who knows what they are doing. 6. Communicate – be open and keep channels of communication open for honest and safe communications. Ask thoughtful questions, listen, and create a safe environment that demonstrates trust. 7. Celebrate: Celebrate by storytelling and reinforcing key actions, accomplishments and behaviors you want to spread as part of increasing value and contribution. Learn to give credit where credit is due. 8. Candor (Candid) – be up front, tell the truth, be transparent, share issues you are facing. 9. Compelling – help them see that what they do is important. Help me see that the project, what the company does or what the organization does is important. 10. Community – People want to feel proud and feel as if they belong to something great, belong to a circle of greatness. 11. Cheerful – no one likes to work for an ogre. Be positive, be optimistic. 12. Custom – make it individual
