Make Life an Adventure
Be at Home in the Unknown

Rusty Johnson is at home in the unknown. He is the star, originator, and Consulting Producer of Travel Channel's Hotel Amazon. On a whim he took a 3,000 mile trek through 5 countries in southern Africa, then flew to the West Indies to film an active volcano twice. He is a jungle guide with over 25 solo expeditions to the Amazon, and at the age of 19 he was the youngest person to have hand raised an endangered Andean condor, which was 1 of only 10 condors privately possessed in the United States. He is the author of a book entitled The Twilight of the Wild (Foreword written by Jim Fowler of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom). Rusty has appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Today Show, and free flew a trained hawk on The Late Show with David Letterman 14-stories high over 49th street in Manhattan. Rusty even free flew an African eagle in the ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria. He has consulted for National Geographic Television's HOOKED, the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, DATELINE, Reader's Digest "Must See Places on Earth" DVD series and he has filmed on the island of Kauai for the documentary series Cosmic Journeys. He has also presented over 3,000 speeches at educational institutions including Princeton University, Rutgers University, and The Explorers Club where he was one of the youngest people ever inducted into the prestigious club. Oh......,and he graduated high school with a 2nd grade reading level. Battling with Dyslexia and ADD, Rusty's daily life has been a breeding ground for the unknown. With a constant barrage of challenges always facing him he was forced to learn to love, embrace, and thrive on the unknown just out of pure survival. After graduating high school by the skin of his teeth, he was at a crossroads. Does he continue to struggle through more years of academia or fling himself into the world and try to "build the jet engine while in flight" to make something of himself. The choice was simple, off into the world he went never to look back. Rusty Johnson is at home in the unknown. After graduating high school by the skin of his teeth, he was at a crossroads. Does he continue to struggle through more years of academia or fling himself into the world and try to "build the jet engine while in flight" to make something of himself. The choice was simple, off into the world he went never to look back. Rusty testified before a federal grand jury pertaining to an Australian animal smuggling ring and he has successfully brainstormed clandestine explosive detection techniques using animals for a post 9/11 anti-terrorism Commander. He has also interviewed the infamous satanic serial killer the Night Stalker (Richard Ramírez) in order to explore the mind of a human predator. He delivered a baby in a jungle hut by the light of a single candle and even survived Malaria by the intense shamanic treatments called "Kambo" and "Gergon" which consists of repeatedly burning the skin with a vine and inserting poison from the monkey frog, and the venom of a fer de lance viper into the burns. After learning about this amazing jungle medicine he now literally drinks Fer de lance viper venom in his orange juice for breakfast for its broad range of health benefits. This exciting life could not have been achieved by being afraid of the unknown. Rusty proves how the greatest rewards a person can receive is by taking the greatest risks and not only conquering your fears but trampling over them. Rusty's exciting speech mesmerizes audiences and his contagious passion for adventure and life empowers his audience to hit their lives head on, push limits, leap over boundaries, and always strive for the extraordinary. And most of all, NEVER allow fear of the unknown affect anything they do.
