Eric will provide a very entertaining, humorous and powerful personal story about the loss of his right leg after stepping on an IED in Afghanistan and the amazing journey and opportunity that stemmed from that incident. In his hospital bed, Eric could have easily become buried in self-pity. Instead, he made a promise to himself to create a new normal, not letting his misfortune put a damper on his enthusiasm for life. Also, he set goals for himself: Eric wanted to race an Ironman Triathlon and to use his experience to inspire others. 22 months following the amputation, Eric crossed the finish line of the 2013 Ironman World Championships in Kona, HI. He has raced in over 25 triathlons to include 3 full Ironman competitions and continues to set his goals higher and higher. Everyone's experiences differ, but Eric shares what motivated him and how he was able to maintain an overall positive attitude. How looking at the situation through a different lens played a big rule in that attitude. Don't feel entitled. Listen how his daughter taught him a lesson about excuses by questioning his need for a handicapped parking placard. Learn how Eric's life path was altered and what his new priorities are to allow you to step back and reconsider what you are making priorities in life. It's a fun presentation. It's interactive, you'll probably convince Eric to take his leg off and I guarantee you'll laugh at some points and come on the verge of tears at others.
