He created this from his working with his mentoring students. He noticed how many successful people get trapped in their success. They reach a certain point, feel successful, become fearful of losing their success and get trapped in a routine of doing what has worked. The result is repeating who they have been and not continuing to challenge their self to continue to move forward. They may look successful, but actually, they are living in a coma! The other side of this is those who have been trained, but their fear keeps them from implementing what they have learned. The result is them staying in a self destructive pattern of behavior.
