Anne-Marie Alderson is a native of Washington, PA and an endurance athlete who knows what it means to push oneself to her outer limits! She attended the University of Pittsburgh and receivedher Bachelor’s Degree in Bioengineering in 2005 and upon graduation, began working at a Pittsburgh biotech company that was developing a cell therapy product. In 2007, she enrolled in the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University, and in 2010 received her MBA. On top of juggling part-time grad school and a demanding full-time job, Anne-Marie discovered and fell in love with triathlon, running, and cycling.
Anne-Marie is an engaging motivational speaker who inspires her audiences to take on new challenges with a strategic mindset, overcome obstacles, and achieve their “EPIC”. Drawing on her experiences from training for and competing in over 100 races over the course of 13 years (and counting!), her presentations have been described as inspirational, energizing, and paradigm-changing.
After competing in running, cycling, and triathlon races of all distances (even Ironman triathlon!), Anne-Marie took her endeavors to new heights when she entered the world of ultra cycling. In 2014, she completed the 3,000 mile Race Across America (RAAM), the “toughest bike race you’ve never heard of”, as part of a 4-woman team, in 7 days, 7 hours, and 15 minutes. Rather than quenching a thirst, it merely kindled the flame for ultra cycling.
Exactly one year later, Anne-Marie was back in the saddle at the same starting line in Oceanside, CA, to take on the grueling 863-mile Race Across the West as part of a 2-woman team, which would prove to be the toughest physical and mental endeavor of her life. With the support of an 8-person crew, Anne-Marie and teammate Patty triumphed over record high temperatures, dehydration, unexpected obstacles, and the commensurate fatigue and sleep deprivation that accompany ultra racing.
Anne-Marie is a high-energy speaker who uses anecdotes from her ultra racing experiences to illustrate practical concepts and tools anyone can implement to reach their EPIC in business, sports, or their personal life.
