Biography

Tom Dugard is a speaker and consultant for non-profit organizations. Having spent his career in both the non-profit and private sectors, Tom has discovered that the non-profit sector will benefit from thinking more like the private sector in a few small but important areas. In his speaking program, Tom shows non-profits how they can adopt these aspects of corporate-world thinking without losing their unique identities as organizations that are working towards the greater good.

One of the main shifts Tom advocates is a shift in how non-profits present themselves. Instead of being defined by what they are not, non-profits need an industry-wide re-branding that reflects what they are and what they do. Tom proposes the name "For Cause Organization". For Cause is more than a label; it's an affirmational, lean-in attitude. Tom's program demonstrates how a mindset shift will help both the industry and individual organizations better serve their missions.
