“I have known Dr. McGuire for 20 years as a part of the pediatric medical community of Cedar Rapids. Her expertise is in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. Over the last 20 years, she has helped many families come to understand the special needs of their children, using teaching and counseling as a major part of her interactions with them. She has also helped them, when needed, to advocate for their children in academic settings. Her passion is to help professionals more thoroughly understand who children are from a foundational level in order to better help them cope and learn, both as students and as individuals.” September 10, 2011

“Dr. McGuire is a dedicated professional that devotes many hours of volunteer time to researching and supporting the needs of children who have great potential and are all too often left behind. She is a teacher that never stops learning and a professional that listens to her heart.” September 12, 2011

“It is a pleasure to write a recommendation for Dr. McGuire, with whom I served on the International Dyslexia Association's Nominating Committee. In the two years we served together, I came to know and appreciate Pat's extensive knowledge in the field of dyslexia (and allied fields) and her passion for improving the lives of children and adults struggling with learning challenges. I also valued her perspectives and knowledge as a Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrician—much needed in the field and valued on the committee! Pat was a dedicated and enjoyable member of the Nominating Committee—generating, accepting, and completing important assignments, contributing to the overall direction of the committee, and collaborating with colleagues with professionalism and humor. Pat has much to offer the field and and the lucky children, parents, and colleagues with whom she works.” September 23, 2011
