'Cant sell peanuts to Monkeys?'
…….sweat the small stuff, they matter!
The most profound advice I received in my career path from Operations transitioning into Sales and Marketing was that I was very capable of selling…….even peanuts to monkeys! My mentor quashed my self-doubts, fear from the lacking of understanding of the unknown world of Sales and Marketing.
His advice? ……‘Do what you do, tell the TRUTH & FOLLOW through!’
Have you ever been in my shoes?
Like so many times past, the fear of the unknown bruised and inflicted my self-confidence, abilities, attitude and aptitude; just as I was ready to short change myself, the angel through the words of my mentor gently, yet very assertively nudged me into diving and indulging face forwards into a change in my career path which later on in my journey, has served me well.
$30 (thirty America dollars) a knap sack full of old clothes and a belly on fire is all that I possessed as I set foot off the airplane on to American shores. I desired no ‘hand outs’ nor the sympathy or mercy of anyone, except for an opportunity in the land of ‘milk and honey’.
Why is Character so important? – It is a person’s Character that helps create shear Will and Determination is conceived into Self-Confidence! Accordingly traits as, Integrity, Honesty, Discipline, Ethics, Principals, Drive, Ambition and Dreams……can only be realized as a real measure of success with a person’s Character thus determining a Follower apart from a Leader.
It is through Character that Winning or Losing attitudes are molded. Mental preparedness and motivation coupled with Hard Work and a Learning ability achieve results of success – through the power of Positive Thinking.
To dream BIG is to understand SMALL. Very often we have heard not to pay attention to the small stuff/things but it is the fatal mistake to overlook or ignore the small incidents that when not paid attention to evolves to bigger unnecessary issues and equally, it is the smaller first steps that must be taken to realize the bigger goals. The small stuff are the foundations upon which the ultimate big goal rests in reliance and interdependence!
