Growing up in Darien, Illinois, Matt excelled in athletics and embraced his role as a team leader and influencer. As a team captain for his high school football team, Matt was widely recruited to play in college. Ultimately, he chose Indiana University where he became team captain from 2006-2010, was named All-Big Ten linebacker and led the Hoosiers in tackles his junior and senior years. Matt still holds Indiana University’s record for most sacks in a single game. During his senior year as a Hoosier he was named team MVP and received the prestigious Howard Brown Award given to the player who best exemplifies leadership, courage, and work ethic.
Matt was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2010. Reaching the pinnacle of his sport, he suffered a life changing ankle injury. Inspired by the event, he embraced his true passion of motivating and helping others to become the best version of themselves using the same methods that helped him reach the pinnacle of his sport.
