Biography

Dr. Kernan Manion knows the human mind like few other professionals. As a practicing and seasoned psychiatrist, he’s helped thousands of people resolve their emotional turmoil, make sense of themselves and establish a firm direction in their lives.

It’s amazing how we take our psychological well-being for granted. Until, that is, we find ourselves in a state of “ill-being”. It was only because of his own professional burnout that Dr. Manion really understood the vital importance of continuously monitoring and sustaining well-being.

With a career coach’s encouraging guidance to draw valuable lessons from his own worklife experience, he re-oriented his psychiatric career toward helping all professionals whose work entails significant occupational stress stay motivated and strengthen their resilience. WorkLife Design, a company he founded over ten years ago, offers innovative programs for individuals and organizations tailored to effectively addressing the burnout epidemic and fostering professional well-being.

Dr. Manion’s motivational presentations encourage audiences to proactively respond to the unique stress challenges they face, learn from them, and set about purposefully crafting the type of life that will bring them the deep happiness they seek. They come to recognize that if they truly want well-being, actively pursuing fulfillment in work and joy in life is not only possible - it’s necessary!

All of us really want to be happy in our work and personal lives.  What is it that makes this so difficult?   Bombarded with stress, most people don’t know how to dismantle it.  Further, we don’t know how to take an active role in designating our lives, both work and personal.  “Crafting Fulfillment” offers a concise framework for pinpointing the sources of our stress, removing the impasses that are keeping us stuck and actively crafting the life we long for.

Be Your Own Shrink!

How to Get To Know and Deal With Your Inner Nutcase

“Know thyself.  A most worthy pursuit.  But, how?  Until now, there’s not been a practical framework for understanding ourselves.  Weaving time-honored psychological principles with the latest brain and mind research, MindSense offers an innovative perspective on the psychology of the human mind.  It provides a concise tool to examine our emotional distress and restore psychological balance.  And more than that, it helps us focus on pursuing the activities of life that call us to virtue and a replenishing well of emotional energy.

Life’s Invitation is to Thrive

Getting Out of the Self-Defeating Survival Mindset and Setting Your Sights on Thriving!

Life can be a grind at times.  But for a surprising number of people, life is unnecessarily framed as a relentless struggle to survive.  There is no doubting the very real stresses many of us must often face.  But adopting a continuous “survival” mindset not only forces us to live an embattled life, it prevents us from asking “what do I need in order to thrive?” Whether in our personal or our work lives, we are invited to Thrive. But first we have to hear that larger invitation and get out of “survival mode.” Dr. Manion’s motivational presentation helps you set your sights on Thrival.
