Joël Roy: radio show host, international motivational speaker, cancer survivor
Joël is an energetic, passionate and experienced motivational speaker - certified with Toastmaster's International, fluent in both French and English.
Joël Roy specializes in interpersonal communications. He has private clients, works with local attorneys to provide services for marriage counseling and anger management courses and is an experienced radio show host. He also works with victims of abuse and bullying. Hundreds have attended one of his seminars on interpersonal communications or listened to him on one of his radio programs.
In 2007, Joël was diagnosed with skin cancer and given only a 1% chance of survival. His survival was miraculous - having only one incision to remove the entire cancerous growth - requiring no further surgery, chemotherapy, radiation or reconstructive surgery (to his face/nose). Facing death lead him to re-evaluate his relationships and how he managed them. He uses these lessons learned, along with countless hours of research, continuing education and annual re-certification in his programs and speeches to motivate others to follow the same path - a path free from worry, doubt, fear and chaos! Programs are engaging, passionate and thought-provoking.
Joël has received many accolades over the years.
- Bronze Médaille de la Défense Nationale (French Army, 1989)
- ‘Letter of Thanks’ from President Barack Obama (2011) for his dedication to community service
- Family Values Award (2013) for his work as a marriage counselor
- Voted 'Best Speaker’ 13/13 times, Toastmaster's International
He is a native of Bordeaux, France and has lived in Rockbridge County, Virginia since 1993.
