Biography

Jim Comer is a seasoned, multi-faceted speaker, author, and communication consultant with more than 25 years of experience working with Fortune 500 companies, professional associations and non-profits. Jim is a professional speaker who has informed, inspired and entertained audiences from Cancun, Mexico to Halifax, Nova Scotia with keynotes on communication skills, team building, overcoming adversity and his 14-years as caregiver for both parents. His humor, stories and interaction has captivated and inspired thousands who have heard his keynotes, including “YOU Are the Message” and “The Joys and Jolts of Parenting Your Parents,” or have taken his transformational presentation skills workshops.

His work as a writer includes How to Survive a Roommate, a book about his early days as an actor in New York, that landed him on the “Today Show”; articles in The New York Times, Washington Post and Dallas Morning News; jokes for Joan Rivers; and a monologue for the legendary Bob Hope. The Writers’ League of Texas nominated his book, When Roles Reverse: A Guide to Parenting Your Parents, for Best Non-Fiction Book, and he edited his father’s World War II journal, Combat Crew, currently a best-selling e-book on Amazon.

Jim has written speeches  - and been a presentation skills coach – for top executives at Avon Products, Rockwell International, Office Depot, AMD, Emerson, IBM, Universal Studios, Shaklee, Lowe’s and the American Cancer Society. He has been Member of the Year for the Austin chapter of the National Speakers’ Association, an award-winning speaker in Toastmasters, and is a veteran of six quiz shows, including Jeopardy.
