BiographyElaine Wilkes, Ph.D., is a Natural Living Expert and author of Nature's Secret Messages: Hidden in Plain Sight. A self-proclaimed "learning addict," Elaine has concluded through her learning and experience that Nature holds the answers to many of life's questions.

At the age of 14, Elaine recognized and accepted her "addiction" to learning. Her father, a self-made man, got her hooked on his countless tapes on positive thinking, visualization and success principles. As a teenager, she put her father's advice to the test: She visualized herself winning a contest for Teen Magazine, being chosen from thousands of entrants and celebrating the prize of an all-expenses-paid week-long trip to California. When she got the official call informing her that she had won the contest, she was excited but not at all surprised. Inspired by the teachings of Norman Vincent Peale, Wayne Dyer and Napoleon Hill, she began painting pictures on the canvas of her mind. Painting herself as an actress, she eventually landed an exclusive contract with NBC, followed by roles in numerous movies and TV shows with A-list actors, including Madonna, Bruce Willis, Courteney Cox, Larry Hagman, Mark Harmon, Kim Basinger, and Kate Capshaw. She has also appeared in more than 75 TV commercials.
To stretch her mind and abilities, Elaine started a business creating presentations on health, mind, body and soul for corporations and speakers such as Deepak Chopra, M.D. Soon though, she became ill.
After receiving vitamins made by a small, unknown company, which had processed the ingredients incorrectly — causing her to ingest highly toxic levels of minerals — Elaine became so ill that she lost all of her hair and fingernails, and her upper body became covered in rashes. She learned firsthand that poor health is the gutter of all lows.
Her illness fueled her learning addiction. She grew passionate about restoring her health. That led her to complete a master's degree in psychology, become a nutritionist, earn a Ph.D. in Naturopathy and even earn a certification as a Kundalini yoga/meditation instructor. Along the way she also become a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accredited professional.
In Nature's Secret Messages, Elaine weaves together herbalism and Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine, with Christian, Taoist, Native American, and shamanic wisdom, combining them all with science and intuition to ingeniously unravel Nature's secret messages. She discusses how we must learn from Nature and takes Charles Darwin head on by focusing on the idea that it's not the strongest or smartest who survive, but those who can best adapt to change
