Biography

A passion for nursing - that is the driving force behind Donald Wood.  With a nursing career that spans over 37 years, Donald has been involved in a variety of nursing venues.  From the high tempo world of the Emergency Department to the intense environment of the Critical Care Unit, Donald can bring a wealth of experience to a presentation that will challenge healthcare workers to enhance their current talents, learn new skills and excel in their work.

Mr. Wood expanded his basic nursing education by becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.  In this field he has shouldered the responsibility for administering all types of  anesthesia  while providing  leadership to those around him.  His leadership skills have been enhanced by being a decorated member of the U.S. Air Force Reserve for 15 years and attending and teaching at several military leadership schools. Donald firmly believes that health care providers of all levels, from support personnel and those who provide direct patient care to the upper levels of management, should learn and practice first-class leadership skills (communication, planning, creative thinking among others).  Donald is also the author of The Intelligent Nurse, a book dedicated to improving patient safety and satisfaction.

Teaching and speaking from the perspective of one who has experienced the many changes and challenges that are inherent in healthcare, Donald has the necessary insight into the learning needs of healthcare professionals. Whether your healthcare group is upper level, mid level or the all important direct patient care provider, Donald can speak the language, motivate from experience and teach from the practical perspective.

Though he has many certifications (CRNA, ARNP, CLNC) he is always proud to point out the letter 'N' in these terms.  He is proud of being a nurse, of being one who makes a difference.  Let him share this pride with your organization.
