Biography

Alfred Poor, Ph.D. is a full time professional speaker, author of more than a dozen books, and independent technology expert based in Perkasie, Pennsylvania. This Harvard graduate brings to his work strong communication skills, a broad background covering a wide range of business and technology topics, more than 30 years of experience as a successful freelance writer with an international reputation, and the ability to make complex concepts accessible to his audiences in ways that they can put the information to use right away.

He has programs for a variety of audiences, including college audiences (both students and staff), large corporations, and small businesses. These include "Survive the Corporate Jungle" which gives college students and young employees clear and simple strategies that help them be more successful in the working world and find more fulfillment in their jobs; it draws on material from his book, "7 Success Secrets That Every College Student Needs to Know!" His newest program tells small business owners to "Stop Wasting Time on Social Media!" Owners are told that they should do something with social media, but it's hard to know if you're "doing it right" or to track the return on investment. He shows how to be both effective and efficient at social media promotion, and how to use Klout as a reliable way to monitor and measure the effectiveness of the efforts.

He has delivered speaking programs for many different audiences over the past 30 years, including the following:

  • Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)
  • Marsh & McLennan
  • The Hartford Insurance Group
  • CIGNA
  • The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA)
  • Wesleyan University
  • Temple University
  • The New York Amateur Computer Club
  • The Philadelphia Area Computer Society
  • The Princeton Computer Club

He has been the keynote speaker for events ranging from the Trenton Computer festival to the New England Association for Cooperative Education and Field Experience (NEACEFE), to the Evolution Magazine Small Business and Technology Boot Camp. Some of his programs have been approved by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for Continuing Education credit for CPAs in the state. He has also presented fee-based webinars and other online events.

He is the author or co-author of more than a dozen books, including his two most recent: "Power Marketing for Small Business" and "7 Success Secrets That Every College Student Needs to Know!"

He also has extensive media experience, and has appeared as a guest on many television and radio shows. He also was co-host of a weekly radio show in New York City for more than eight years.

Alfred Poor is an energetic and entertaining speaker who engages his audiences and delivers presentations packed with information that they can put to work right away. He is the easiest and most professional speaker that you will ever work with. He is a full-time speaker and writer, and can be available on short notice if his schedule permits. He is also a member of several organizations, including the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
