What is the Other Half of Success?
You've heard many motivational speakers talk about goal-setting, vision, and reaching for the stars, but that is only half of what it takes to build success and significance. AJ reveals the other half of success -- your story and your legacy. He teaches strategies to help individuals and organizations achieve greater success and get better results by embracing your past (your backstory), taking control of your present story, and shifting from being a passive character in your story to becoming the author of your success story and the legacy you leave behind. AJ’s strategies have been requested by top leadership organizations, including:
AJ’s knowledge and methods were honed in the trenches of practical leadership. The principles he teaches have been tested and proven over his 12+ years of training and leading leaders in schools, non-profits, and professional organizations. He does not teach theories, but the practical and actionable “how to” practices that build success in real life. AJ understands the other half of success – the adversity, struggle, and grind that accompany achievement and leadership. Through his personal story of conquering poverty, persevering through unemployment and near homelessness, and writing his first book while working multiple jobs just to make ends meet AJ proves to audiences that what we go through is preparation for where we’re headed to.
But before he was an international speaker, AJ was just a shy kid from a tiny island, growing up in poverty with a very poor education and few opportunities. As a young adult, he worked multiple jobs to provide for his family, even scrubbing toilets as a janitor and selling the family car to pay rent one month! He didn't allow that to stop him, though. Using the same principles he now teaches to individuals and organizations, AJ rose from broke and nearly homeless to successful speaker, entrepreneur, and author within just a few years! He is living proof that what you you through is preparation for for where your headed to!
It was in 1999, while still a teen, that AJ was first impassioned about inspiring people. He was heart broken at the news of the Columbine High School shooting that claimed the lives of 13 students and teachers. For several days following the tragedy, he wrestled with the question of “Why?...”: “Why did this happen? Who failed to reach the shooters? And most importantly, “Why doesn’t someone do something about it?” That is when AJ heard a still small voice respond, “Why don’t you do something about it.” Inspired, AJ decided then to make it his life mission to reach people with a positive message of hope. Over the next 12 years, this mission would lead him to work with teens, parents, educators, and organizations throughout the country. He even travelled to Sydney, Australia where he spent a year mentoring teens, speaking in schools, and serving local communities.
Following his time in Australia, AJ continued to pursue his passion of reaching people with a positive message of hope. But the years to follow would present unique challenges, including working multiple jobs as a sales rep, janitor, etc. to support his family. One month he even had to sell the family car to pay for rent and groceries! Unwilling to let adversity get the best of him, AJ kept his passion for people alive and in the dark, dusty loft the warehouse where he worked as a janitor, AJ wrote his first book about achieving success. He would use those same principles to rise above his adversity and within less than two years, rise from janitor to a 6-figure earner, national speaker, and author. AJ’s journey is proof that where you are does not determine who you are. Today, AJ continues his mission of reaching people with a positive message that brings hope by empowering people to use their backstory to take ownership of their present story and write their success story. This is The Other Half of Success that truly leads to results in school, life, and business!
When AJ steps on stage or stand before an audience, he does more than deliver an inspiring talk – he creates a powerful experience in which you encounter your “moment” of realizing how to face your past, take control of your present story, and become the author of your success story. AJ’s style is personable and direct, a rare combination that is highly sought after by corporations, schools and universities, non-profit organizations, media outlets. By the time AJ wraps up you will feel as though you have regained control over the direction of your life, found a renewed sense of purpose, and been equipped with the right tools and strategies to make it all happen. You will walk away from the experience knowing that behind every great success story, there is an even greater back story. Read to take control of your success story? AJ will show you how!
