With SpeakerMatch, there is no need to spend time looking for places to market your materials because we do it for you and present speaking opportunities with all the relevant information in an easy to read format. Not in the traditional sense. Our service operates more like a matching service. There are no speaker agents and all comunication is between the speaker and meeting planner; SpeakerMatch simply facilitates the communication through the Communication Center. If a subscriber to our service secures an engagement, there are no commissions. Period. We do receive calls from meeting planners where our current roster may not have an ideal speaker. In this instance, we'll help the organizer find what they are looking for and charge a finder's fee to the speaker. In addition, we provide ample support to make sure our speakers have a professional web presence. This is done in a variety of ways, including access to educational teleseminars, e-zines, our publication, Behind the Podium, strategy sessions, and more.
We're well aware that it's all about ROI (Return on Investment). It only takes one modestly paid speaking engagement to pay for an entire year of the SpeakerMatch service. Plus, any bookings you receive through SpeakerMatch are yours to keep; We take no commissions! Most of our speakers get booked through what we call, "Direct Requests." This is where event organizers browsing our speaker showcase review speakers based on their search criteria and simply pick up the phone or fill out the built-in information request form to inquire about your speaking services. Our system is focused on connecting the speaker and planner in the most efficient manner. An email notification is delivered to your personal email address to notify you of any inquiries you receive through SpeakerMatch.
It's important to note that due to the nature of the SpeakerMatch service it is impossible to know the exact number of paid opportunities. Most often, organizers will search our directory, find a speaker, and book them without ever letting us know. With that said, we do receive 20-50 engagements per month listed as an open call for speakers that are then emailed out to our members.
60% of these listings are for low-fee and no-fee engagements (under $500), while the remaining 40% are for engagements which pay $500 and up (25% are over $1500, 18% are over $2,500, and 11% are over $5,000). We are continually working on adding new opportunities and on exploring new venues.
Members can search for these opportunities by date, location, topic requirements, and many other criteria. Each engagement represents multiple speaker openings. One engagement, for example, may require 5 speakers. Some of our listings come from large conferences and conventions where organizers are seeking 40, 100, 200 or more breakout session leaders. We also list a substantial number of ongoing opportunities across the country (speakers needed on a monthly to quarterly basis). Often, expenses are covered even when there is no speaking fee, but this differs from engagement to engagement. The job listing page indicates which opportunities include speaking fees, travel fees, and whether or not expenses are paid.
