Go Ahead! Just Try to Crush My Spirit!
The first song I wrote after I lost my vision was a blues song titled Gratitude. I needed an attitude adjustment, as I was going through a divorce and losing my job when I suddenly lost my central vision and became legally blind. The next song I wrote was a funny song about my experiences as a person with a disability called Ode to Blindness: "Don't walk into an airport bathroom without closely checking the sign." (Note: Men don't care if a woman walks in on them, even if she doesn't have a white cane with a red tip.)
I've written humorous songs about getting a colonoscopy, menopause, and not being able to look like Gwyneth Paltro. I get people up on their feet, taking risks, increasing their immune system, laughing and surprising themselves and those around them with just how playful they are willing to be. People come up to me years later and tell me they have never been the same. I focus on profoundly simple, yet amazingly effective techniques that bring out the best in everyone. We have got to get over this terror addiction we have going on. Enough is enough, already!
Though I am legally blind I travel all over the world, usually by myself. I help people change their perspective and find the courage to overcome whatever obstacles come their way. As an international speaker, counselor, singer/songwriter, and performer, I know how to combine entertainment and information in a fun, funny, interactive manner. I have been called “one of the best speakers on the international circuit.” This is because I am just honest and irreverent enough to get people thinking and behaving differently.

Some Presentation Topics...
Leadership
The Courage to Lead
What Happens When You Step Up, Lean in, Make No /excuses, and Stay in the Game? Leadership isn’t just for those few at the top we can blame when we are unhappy. It is the responsibility of every person to step up and take a stand for what is important: respect, dignity, personal safety, service, and citizenship. We are all leading all the time whether we choose to admit it or not. We lead when we listen to a racist joke and say nothing. We lead when we allow people to be ridiculed and shamed. There is no neutral to hide in. We are either making the world a safer place or a more dangerous place. We are either transforming our suffering into compassion or we are spewing our pain in the world.
