Biography

Originally from New Zealand, Darryl Lovegrove moved to Sydney Australia in 1988 to join the original Australian cast of ‘Les Miserables’. After winning the Australian singing competition in 1989 he went on to establish himself as one of Australia’s most in demand performers before ‘accidentally’ stumbling on to an idea that would literally revolutionize corporate entertainment around the world.

Darryl’s inspirational story is of a guy who dreamed of being a rock star only to team up with a mate and create an operatic phenomenon. A consummate and charismatic performer, Lovegrove details his transition from one of theatres ‘Leading Men’ to Company Director of a global entity before selling his shareholding to form Lovegrove Productions - all in a manner unique to public speaking.

Darryl shares his extraordinary experiences and keen business intellect while performing one or two arias relevant to this incredible story.
In 1998, against all odds Darryl Lovegrove and his former business partner, Mark Bradley, revolutionized entertainment in the corporate world by giving birth to
“The Three Waiters” – a phenomenal success that has transcended international
gender and cultural differences, performing over 8,000 times in more than 70
countries.
Head offices are now set up in Sydney, London and The Empire State Building in New York.

In May 2009 he sold his financial interest in ‘The Three Waiters’ and now manages Australia’s premier corporate entertainment act ‘The Leading Men’.

Having spent a great deal of time in the US building up the American business Darryl is constantly in the country on business.

No longer managing ‘The Three Waiters’ he is able to look back and reflect on the singing waiters phenomenon while sharing his strategies and challenges he faces as an entrepreneur and a producer of quality entertainment – all the more compelling given this is an industry particularly hit hard by the worldwide economic crisis. You may even learn to sing!

Just a very quick email to say a HUGE thankyou for presenting at our recent AFA event – you were truly amazing, and we all loved you – both for your presentation about the rise and rise of The Three Waiters, and of course for your amazing performances!
Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would hear 500 Financial Advisers singing the final lines of one of the most amazing Arias from the world of Opera! A sound to truly be heard to be believed!

“I’m a veteran of conferences and I’ve seen my share of keynote speeches and inspirational stories so I can be tough to impress. Your presentation was a highlight and one of the most entertaining sessions I’ve ever attended. Your engaging and enthusiastic style was brilliantly exploited as you recounted your story of the evolution and ultimate success of “The 3 Waiters”. I, together with the rest of the audience was thrilled with your performance of Nessun Dorma and frankly was disappointed that there wasn’t time for you to sing some more. Whether speaking or singing, you are clearly an accomplished and polished performer. The story of your success was inspirational”.
Jeff Proud
Director, Canberra Life and Superranuation
