Whether it's the psychology underlying how you make positive change, or the latest research on cancer, diabetes or cardiovascular disease, knowledge and understanding will empower you to take the necessary steps to achieve optimal health and wellness and achieve balance in your life. Glen Winkel is a medical scientist trained in neurobiology, developmental biology and cell physiology. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine and studies complementary approaches to traditional medicine based upon current scientific research. He conducts seminars on a variety of topics including stress reduction, the immune system, neurological disorders, children's environmental health and athletic performance. He is a health, fitness and sports coach and consultant and presents seminars throughout the US. His company researches, compiles and distributes the latest health information to teach people how they can improve their health and motivate them to achieve to their greatest potential. Dr. Winkel is also a 7-time World and 20-time National Cycling Champion, a former member of the U.S. Postal Service Masters Cycling Team and recognized internationally as one of the most successful American master cyclists. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine (1985), a Masters degree from Mt. Holyoke College (1979) and a BA in Neuroscience from Amherst College (1977). He was awarded the prestigious Charles E. Merrill Scholarship and the Ira Skillman and Earle Anthony Research awards and was a research fellow in the Cardiovascular Research Institute at UCSF. Dr. Winkel is former President of the Colorado Velodrome Association, a discussion leader for On Target Institute, former President of the Pikes Peak Toastmasters Club and the Southern Division Governor for District 26 of Toastmasters International. He has two children and lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
