Mark Wiggins began his noteworthy life as a standout athlete at Maple Heights High School in Cleveland Ohio, where he was born and raised. During his high school years, Mark served as Junior Class President; lettered in track, basketball, football, and band; and was selected 1st Team All Conference for basketball, which went 20-2, in 1985. Mark’s academic achievements were not lost on his athletic talent. He received a full scholarship to play basketball at the University of Alabama Huntsville (UAH), Huntsville, Alabama where his exemplary accomplishments continued.

Mark lettered all four years at UAH. In 1990, he was the first African-American to graduate from the men’s basketball program in over ten years. Again, Mark’s focus was not just athletics but also academics. Another highlight accomplishment, being voted College Homecoming King. His stellar achievements, both on and off the court, were recognized in 1997, when Mark was inducted into the UAH Athletic Hall of Honor, an induction reserved for the most outstanding student-athletes and alumni.

Having recognized that the overwhelming challenges that he faced are similar to the obstacles young people face today, Mark uses his gifts to serve as a mentor. He is the Founder and CEO of the MTXE Foundation, a community service organization dedicated to helping youth maximize their potential through education, athletics, and cultural immersion. Mark’s desire is to move today’s youth “from the bench the starting line-up of life.” This challenge is MTXE’S mantra. Utilizing humor and real-life experiences, Mark conveys a message of encouragement, hope, and self-actualization.

Mark lives in Potomac Falls, Virginia, and is a devoted husband to Audrey, and loving father to daughter, Micaiah and son, Marcellus. Mark accepted Christ as his personal savior at a young age. Mark believes he has so much to give, because he was given so much. Mark continues to display an uncommon dedication to God and family through his motivational speeches and work in the MTXE Foundation. Mark and wife, Rev. Audrey Wiggins, are currently members of the First Baptist Church of Vienna, led by Rev. Dr. Kenny Smith.

Mark Wiggins is an ordinary man who has had extraordinary life experiences…and he is not finished yet. His life and accomplishments thus far serve as a motivating example to everyone.
