
Dr. Drew is an innovative pioneer in lightning fast grant writing. He is an international leader in the effort to introduce Dragon Naturally Speaking, Dropbox, the Foundation Center On-Line Directory and other innovative software applications to improve the productivity of grant writers. According to Dr. Drew, an agency that adopts voice recognition software alone would improve its grant writing speed by at least 300%.
Dr. Drew brings a breathtaking energy, enthusiasm, and expertise to his public speaking. He is a former political science and business school professor with a Ph.D. from Cornell University. In 1989, he won the William Anderson Award from the American Political Science Association for the best doctoral dissertation in the nation in the field of federalism, state and local government. He is a published author in the field of child protection and child welfare programs.
As a non-profit executive and consultant, Dr. Drew has used his lightning fast philosophy to raise over $8.5 million for charities including the Museum of Latin American Art, the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, Opera Pacific, the Los Angeles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Walking Shield American Indian Society. In 2009, for example, Dr. Drew's application of his techniques allowed Coast Community College District (CCCD) to secure over $1.9 million in grant funds.

He spoke at the 5th Annual International Civic Education Conference on December 8, 2009 in Nashville, TN. He appeared at the Neighborhoods, USA Conference on May 28, 2010 in Little Rock, AR. He was featured at the Neighborhoods, USA Conference on May 26, 2011 in Anchorage, AK.
Internationally, he has been invited to provide his state-of-the-art grant writing workshop in China (2004), Philippines (2005) and Egypt (2008).
In each of his workshops, Dr. Drew personalizes his workbook, class handouts, and presentation by highlighting the top 10 local foundation funders and the types of projects most likely to be funded in the local area. His presentations touch on all the senses and use music, animation, PowerPoint presentations, humor, role play exercises, props, the Internet, and other tools to create a vivid, memorable and life-changing experience for workshop participants. Dr. Drew also speeds up grant writing by providing participants with links to relevant samples of winning letters of inquiry and winning grant applications. At the root of his presentation is the bold suggestion that grant writing must change to embrace the latest technology. This way, charities will be able to move quickly when funding opportunities suddenly arise.
