My "official bio" is listed below. Here are some facts that you may not find in my bio. I am a mother of three sons. I have experienced many of the problems that I work with my clients to resolve. One of my sons suffered from severe mental illness. I have suffered the loss of one of my children. I have experienced self-healing from a serious illness. In my family, I have dealt with drug abuse and trauma. I live a stressful life and have had to learn to manage my stress to prevent further health problems. What I learned in medical school turned out to be a very small part of my overall education as a physician. The rest, my patients taught me. Through my fellowship in integrative medicine and through unique interactions with patients who had self-healing experiences, I learned what it meant to be a healer. My passion for my work as an integrative medicine specialist who treats eating disorders, addictions and obesity as well as other mental health issues comes from my personal experiences and my desire to help others who are going through similar situations. My belief is that hope is healing and that inspiration can be transformative. Illness is a call to action and should be answered not by one's intellect but through listening to the still, small voice that lives in each of us.
