He has received numerous awards for his work in Internet communications, public relations research, strategic planning and particularly his commitment to the public relations profession.

He has addressed local, regional and national organizations including: the Public Relations Society of America (international conference), International Association of Business Communicators, Project Management Institute, American Society of Civil Engineers, Delaware Valley Human Resources Partnership, Union League of Philadelphia, Center City Propertiers Association (3 times), Sales and Marketing Executives, Fast Company, International Association of Online Communicators, Susquehanna University, Temple University, Drexel University, Widener University and more.

Rick holds a masters degree in public relations and a bachelor's degree in communications. He is a former adjunct instructor at Rowan University and Drexel University. He is also past president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, and former board member of the International Association of Business Communicators, Professional Communicators of Southern New Jersey and the Gloucester County Business Association.
