About Cissy Wechter:

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Cissy began her writing career as fashion editor for her junior high newspaper, continuing the study of journalism in high school.  She was awarded a scholarship to Los Angeles City College, then transferred to California State University at Northridge, where she earned her B.A. in English.  Later, while traveling as a band wife and raising two sons, she continued post-graduate studies in English and semantics.  When she returned to California, Cissy became a successful clothing retailer, developing a customer base of 19,000, partly because of the monthly fashion newsletter she wrote, and partly because her store, Flair, became a fashion icon in Encino.  Cissy is also a songwriter, and composed the lyrics to "Spanish Flea", a hit that was first recorded by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, and later by 60 other artists, including Homer Simpson.  She wrote the lyrics for "Growing Pains", the musical co-created by her late husband Julius Wechter of the Baja Marimba Band.  With her son David Wechter, she collaborated on the humor book, Vintage Whines.  Cissy now lives in Calabasas, a lovely suburb of Los Angeles, and feels very lucky to be surrounded by her wonderful and loving friends and family.
